Performance made for "Cosmofeminism" exhibition at Fortuna, in the frame of 24hours Neukolln, 2019, and in TENT DOCK 11, Feb 2020
More than encouragement to try something frightening, leaps of faith are a cognitive practice and spiritual exercise. In her performance and installation, Trueheart proposes the leap of faith as a movement full of political potential and in need of renewal. She uses an array of metaphors, such as ballet and k-pop, or how she doesn’t know how to float, to bring people into her earnest belief that leaps of faith strike a balance between stymying hyper-cynicism bred online, and the stunting superficiality and mindlessness of our times. Drawing from her childhood and adolescence in the Episcopalian church, and the comfort she found there, she attempts to make believing in the un-nameable and unknowable possible.
